Dedicated to the memory of  Zoran Đinđić

Don’t overdramatize it, it has nothing to do with the dead princess – that’s how Ravel explained the title of his Pavane pour une infante défunte (Pavane for a Dead Princess), adding that he just liked the way those words sounded when spoken out loud. Surely the notes sound great, too! The Orchestra is tasked to execute, together with our oboist Sanja Romic, the world premiere of Nimrod Borenstein’s Concerto for oboe and orchestra. Then we go back to the beginning of the 20th century, when romanticism was being replaced by impressionism and expressionism, and famous works by Debussy, Fauré and Sibelius were written about the sad love of Pelléas et Mélisande, after Maeterlinck’s drama. They were joined by Schoenberg’s symphonic poem Pelleas und Melisande, to complete the program of the evening dedicated to Zoran Djindjic. The young Iranian conductor Hossein Pishkar is once again on the podium in front of the orchestra.
